Starting the New Year with a NEW plaything!
While still here in KC I took advantage of a special coupon for in-store purchases only, and with my Christmas gift card in my pocket, went to the local Blick store . . .
The visit itself was lots of fun, but what I came home with is even better! I'm exploring YUPO -- a synthetic "fine art substrate." It has an extremely smooth matte surface and supposedly can be wiped clean if using wet media. I haven't tried that yet but will keep it in mind. So far, I've only used my newest watercolor pencils (Faber-Castell) to explore how it works, but I'm definitely lovin' it! Here are the beginnings of my efforts. I'm going quite small so I don't waste the "paper"! I'll share future stages as they progress.
